The Vine Trust is committed to respect your privacy and ensure the personal information you have entrusted to us is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. These laws will be updated in May 2018 to strengthen your rights and give you control over personal information that organisations hold about you.
HOW WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION
At The Vine Trust, we will contact you to prompt you to choose how you want to receive updates from us on features, products and offers. When we receive your requirements we will update our records and only contact you in accordance with your requirements.
Most of our customer information will not be personal information as it will be from churches and schools. However some organisations do use individual contacts who provide their personal information. In these instances, we will hold the information that is supplied to provide the services the organisation requires (This will mainly be church contact points).
We will request the information necessary to engage volunteers to work in the Vine Trust Bookshop. This information will include name, address, email and telephone details, work experience and references.
In some instances, The Vine Trust may obtain health and other personal data. In all instances the information will only be kept for the relevant time in relation to each volunteer.
The Vine Trust will collect and hold the information required by the Charity Commission in relation to each Trustee of the Vine Trust.
SENSITIVE PERSONAL DATA
The Data Protection Act recognises some information as ‘sensitive personal data’. This includes, but is not limited to, information which reveals your religious beliefs, health issues, race or ethnic origin.
The Vine Trust will always treat any sensitive personal data we process with the greatest care and process the information accordance with the Data Protection Act.
We love sharing news about The Vine Trust. This includes sending you information about our work, news, events, information on volunteering, special offers and complete on order:
- Email and text marketing: We will ask for your permission to contact you by email and text for marketing purposes.
- Postal marketing: From time to time we may send you information about our work unless you have told us you would prefer not to receive this information.
- Telephone marketing: We may call to update you on the work we are doing, to notify you when your order is ready or provide you with information you have requested.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
We will not sell your personal information to a third party.
If you are a Trustee of The Vine Trust we are legally required to share you personal information with The Charity Commission.

The Vine Trust will only keep your personal information for as long as it is required and in accordance with statutory requirements.
YOUR INFORMATION RIGHTS AND CHOICES
The Data Protection Act gives you the right:
- To request in writing and securely obtain copies of the personal information The Vine Trust holds about you.
- To correct or update personal information processed by The Vine Trust.
- To request The Vine Trust to stop using your personal information for marketing purposes or for any other purposes where there is no legal requirement for continued processing.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office about how we manage your data
